Anthony Joseph Kovscek
ABERDEEN--Anthony J. (Tony) Kovscek died July 13, 2023 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital from lung cancer. He was born April 1, 1942 in Buffington, PA, the son of Anthony and Anna Kovscek. He attended and graduated from Uniontown High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. Before shipping out for Vietnam, he married Kathleen Allemeier on September 25, 1965. After completing military service, they moved to Cleveland OH and resettled shortly thereafter in the greater Seattle area. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He spent his professional career at Boeing beginning in 1967 and retired with 30 years of service in 1997. Among various positions at Boeing he was a Computer Programmer Analyst. He was an active member of St Paul Catholic Church in Westport and previously St. Pius X in Mountlake Terrace, WA. His passion was building. Not only did he provide shelter for his family, he built the shelter for them himself including two houses in Ocosta and a house in Kenmore, WA. He was a family man who loved to take his wife and children (Anthony, Alexandra, Kristina, and Nicholas) camping throughout the United States. He spent much of his retirement cruising the world with Kathleen, visiting grandchildren (Seanna, Alexa, Paul, Madeline, Luke, Elanor, and Zachary), and brewing beer in his brew kitchen. He was preceded in death by his sister Anna Marie Popernack. He is survived by sister Patricia Wacker, brothers Stanley, Francis and Paul and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life mass will be held August 9 at noon at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westport and burial will be November 11 at 2 pm at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.
