Barbara Ann O'Rourke passed away at home on Friday, September 15, 2023. Barbara was born on November 16, 1934, in Pawtucket, RI to Owen and Mary McGeough. She was raised in Woonsocket, RI, and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1952. Throughout her life, she also lived in Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, and California.
On October 6th, 1956 Barbara married George Mort in San Diego, CA. Barbara worked as a restaurant waitress, maid, and secretary for 50 years on and off and spent the last years before she retired driving a Kurbstone route for her son's flower company. Later in her life, she got remarried to Patrick "Pat" O'Rourke on November 21, 1972, in Adams, Wisconsin. Pat passed in 2003, and Barbara then returned to Washington in 2004.
Barbara loved to travel with her husband Pat to Japan, Hawaii, Australia, and Mexico. Barbara and Pat also traveled in their RV doing flea markets and roadside selling after he retired. She collected rubber stamps to make cards, decorations, and flyers for family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband George Mort and second husband Patrick O'Rourke; parents Owen and Mary McGeough; sons Robert and Lee Mort; brothers Joe and Leo McGeough; sisters Rita Abraham, Peggy Denton, Kay Meadow Craft, and Margaret McGeough. She is survived by her sons Peter Mort of Aberdeen, WA, Greg Mort of Everett, WA, and Darrell Mort of Aberdeen, WA; daughter Gail Cox of Ocean Shores, WA; brother John McGeough of Florida; 27 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
