Carol Ladonna Wold (Koser)
Carol Wold, 86, a longtime resident of Grays Harbor County, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 13th, 2025. Born in Lake Oswego, Oregon, on June 6, 1939, Carol was the second youngest of 8 children. She moved to Grays Harbor as a young girl. Although Carol was young in years and small in stature, it was very evident early on that she was large in heart and filled with passion.
After high school, Carol began working at the local cannery where she would go on to meet her husband of 49 years, Richard Wold. Richard hoped that when he slipped his cousin Joyce a piece of paper asking Carol if she would like to go on a date with him, that she would say yes. She did, and the rest is history.
They married on September 1st, 1961, and had 3 beautiful daughters. Richard and Carol raised their family in various places throughout Grays Harbor, and ultimately made Central Park their final home. They were the perfect team. Richard and Carol's combination of strong work ethic and spirited passion helped to create their most wonderfully welcoming Bryrwood home. Richard and Carol were ecstatic when they learned their beautiful garden would be featured on the 2010 WSU Master Gardeners Tour.
One of Carol's greatest attributes was her unwavering passion for her family. She absolutely cherished any time she spent with anyone in her family. But when the entire family was involved, Carol was at her absolute best. Always thinking of different and fun ways she could involve her entire family with enthusiastic and energetic events, Carol would frequently plan and host "family fun days," or movie nights, or game nights, or to go on a random road trip, or to simply spend time together over some lemon meringue pie or a quickly whipped-up shrimp salad, sometimes all in the same extraordinary day, you could always count on Carol to be the middle of it all, absolutely loving and cherishing every last moment. You could always count on Carol for anything.
She taught everyone close to her the true, meaningful values of giving back and of taking great care of those around you. Often times, Carol would be there to ensure that her daughter's friends, and even some of the neighborhood children, had a ride to and from school, would have lunch, dinner, or even just a few hours in a safe and warm environment.
Always teaching by example, Carol frequently participated in many fundraising activities such as the local Cancer Relay for Life and the March of Dimes. She also felt very passionate about the right for people to vote. For many years, she very proudly helped manage the voting booths in Central Park.
Later on in life, Carol and Richard began their family business, R.C. Trucking. In addition to the non-stop responsibilities of being a busy stay-at-home mom, of being a focused and diligent business partner, and those of her altruistic duties, she also worked various jobs. She was extraordinarily proud to work for her daughter and late son-in-law, Susan and Stan Vessey, at their business, Vessey and Sons, Inc.
Affectionately known as "Hun" to her husband, Richard, Carol is survived by her 3 daughters, Susan Vessey, Cathy Talley (Lance), Karen Rowe (Ryan), and her 5 grandchildren, Adam Vessey, Anthony Elder, Tyler Talley, Samantha Talley and Josie Talley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her son-in-law, Stan.
