Obituary

Darrell Lynn Wogan, Sr. passed away in Tama, Iowa on February 4, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on November 22, 1940 to parents Verl Vinton Wogan and Francis Mae Hill. He was a 1958 graduate of Green Mountain High School and a 1972 alumni of Iowa State University. He later married Evelyn Lillian (Shelter) Wogan in Bellingham, Washington. He served in the US Navy as a flight navigator from 1957 to 1967. He worked as a police officer in 1968 before he was injured in the line of duty. He worked as a dairy farmer from 1978 to 1993, and then worked as a truck driver, a Walmart associate, and finally as a vegetable and hay farmer until 2021 when he sold the farm and retired. Darrell loved flying, farming, and spending time in Hawaii.
Darrell is survived by his son, Darrell (Paula) Wogan, Jr. of Lynden, Washington; daughters Karmen (Greg) Shoemaker of Fairbanks, Alaska, Christine (Steve) Baldwin of Palmer, Alaska, Karen (Brad) Hirschi of Central Park, Washington, and Debra (Rusty) Spencer of Elma, Washington; sister Cheryl (Jack) Freet of Gillman, Iowa; grandchildren Jamie Elenbaas, Keith Wogan, Alicia Herning, Nathon Shoemaker, Jessica Baldwin, Janel Baldwin, Amber Braaten, Kaleb Blume, Dannikah Doyle, Ryan Spencer, Mitchell Spencer, and Dylan Spencer; and great grandchildren Emmett Wogan, Thomas Wogan, Olivia Wogan, Natalie Elenbaas, Troy Elenbaas, Kaylen Herning, Riley Herning, Kolton Shoemaker, Kasen Shoemaker, Kadence Braaten, Adam Braaten, Sawyer Spencer, Easton Spencer, Aubree Spencer, Sterling Spencer, Freya Spencer, Harrison Spencer, Sebastian Blume, and Archer Blume.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Shelter) Wogan; parents Verl and Francis (Hill) Wogan; and brothers Bobby Wogan and Darwin Wogan.
Burial will take place at the Wynoochee Cemetery in Montesano, Washington on February 28, 2025 with a celebration of life immediately following at the Montesano Senior Center at 2:30pm.
