Elizabeth Lee Kuronen Obituary October 5, 1936-February 21, 2025

Elizabeth Lee (Armstrong) Kuronen passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on
February 21st, 2025.  While she will be greatly missed, she is now one with the love of her life,
Michael Kuronen.
Elizabeth was born October 5th,1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Elmer and Frances
Armstrong.  In 1940, the family moved to Aberdeen, Washington. Elizabeth was an
accomplished pianist, an honor student, active in Aberdeen High School's Year Book Club and
served as Worthy Advisor to the Aberdeen Chapter of the International Order of the Rainbow for
Girls.  She attended both Grays Harbor Community College and the University of Washington.
Her best friend, Barbara Hill (later Barbara Scott) set her up on a date with Michael Kuronen on
November 26, 1954.  It was the Annual Rainbow Tolo Dance at the Morck Hotel in Aberdeen.
She was 18 years old and he was 20.  They married on March 8, 1958, enjoying many years of
love and laughter.  Daughters Sheryl Anne and Michele Suzanne were born in 1960 and 1964.
Their journey brought them from Seattle to Southern California, where another daughter, Alison
Nicole, was born.  In 1994, the need to be near aging parents and the beauty of the Northwest
brought them back to Aberdeen.  Their dream home here included plenty of space for painting,
quilting, and other art.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Michael (2013), her daughter Sheryl (2019) and
her daughter Alison (2019).  She is survived by her daughter Michele, son-in-law Jack, sister
Alice Liukko, grandchildren Jacqueline, Eric, Matthew, Michael, Megan, Logan, Elijah, Traci,
Joshua, granddaughter-in-law Nekole, son-in-law Aaron Palmer, brother-in-law, Kenneth
Kuronen, sister-in-law Garnet Kuronen, great-grandchildren Trevawn, Aaron, Ryan, Cameron,
Kai, Nya, Lilliana, great-granddaughter-in-law Fran, nieces and nephews Shae, Kyla, Eero,
Maya, Elaine, Lynn, Lisa, and Denise. Barbara (Hill) Scott's son, Kevin Scott, holds a place as
Elizabeth's honorary son and family member.  Elizabeth spent her final years in Montesano with
Michele and Jack, quilting and keeping track of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth and Michael planned for that glorious day when they would reunite with this quote, "In
each other's hands we found trust and comfort, in each other's arms we found happiness and
joy, in each other's hearts we found a love that would last forever, now we have found
contentment and peace, knowing we are together for eternity."
A celebration of the lives and love of Elizabeth and Michael Kuronen is planned for the summer
of 2025.  To honor their memory, they would ask that you listen to their song, John Denver's
"Annie's Song."  "Come let me love you, let me give my life to you" describes the love they
shared and will continue to share in eternity.
