Florence May Spalding (Winings), 92 of Elma WA, passed away January 9, 2023. Florence was born to John and Mabel Winings on October 21, 1930 in Garden City near McCleary, WA.
She graduated from Elma High school in 1949. On June 1st, 1952 Florence married Paul Spalding. They were married for 31 years. She enjoyed gardening, farming, animals, crocheting and baking. She worked for the Elma school district in the lunch room and then became a bus driver. She worked 30+ years before retiring. Florence was very involved with the Baptist church. Teaching Sunday School, Awana, Circle group and Jail ministry. She participated in mission trips to California. She was a lifelong member of the Elma Grange #26.
She is survived by her son, David (Katherine) Spalding and grandchildren Jason Spalding, of Elma, WA, Amy (Chad) Timm of Union, WA, Heidi (Kolbey) Kesler of Elma, WA. Great-grandchildren Zachary Carson, Phaedra Patterson, Arianna Patterson and Joanna Timm, Emma Spalding and Kolbey Kesler II. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents John and Mable Winings, her husband Paul Spalding, daughter Donna Spalding, great grandson Mitchell Brady, two sisters Nancy Bell and Pearl Lewis, three brothers Robert, Walter and Richard Winings.
There will be a graveside service held Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Elma Masonic Cemetery. Funeral reception to follow after the service at Elma First Baptist Church.
