Ocean Shores resident, Gloria Patricia Wharton, passed away in Montesano on June 20, 2025 at the age of 97.
Gloria was born on March 11, 1928, in Seattle, Washington, to parents Luigi Rasore and Caterina Lagorio. She married John Wharton on August 12, 1950 and they continued to live in Greenlake until they purchased the Carlsborg Store near Sequim. Gloria later worked as the Post Master for the Carlsborg post office and also in Ocean Shores from 1984 to 1994 and then became the NAPUS president for the Union of the United States Post Office.
Gloria enjoyed travelling, especially with her husband, to places like Hawaii and had even travelled with her friend, Cathy, to Genova, Italy , to visit her mother's house and the church she attended. She loved animals (especially her cat, Miss Lilly), listening to music and going to the casino or playing golf with her friends.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Marilisa Wharton; brother in law, Rocky (Darlene) Wharton; nieces, Diana Swanson of Belfair and Arlene Bower of Lynwood; her daughter in law, Corrie Wharton of Port Townsend; and her grandchildren, Johnathon Wharton and Caterina Chichester both of Port Townsend, and Joshua Chichester of Kansas City, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Wharton; her son, John Richard Wharton; her parents, Luigi Rasore and Caterina Lagorio; her brothers, Joseph and Leonello; and her sister, Mary Louise.
