Obituary

Harvey Jack Parshall Sr., lovingly known as Jack, passed away January 13th 2026. He was 74 years old. He was born on July 9, 1951, in Aberdeen, Washington, to William Oscar Parshall and Alma Faye (Post) Parshall.

Jack was raised in Cosmopolis and Aberdeen, where he attended J.M. Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen and later studied at South Puget Sound Community College. A dedicated and hardworking man, Jack spent his entire career as a mill worker in the timber industry. His strong work ethic defined much of his life, and he retired in 2016 after decades of service.

For the past 10 years, Jack made his home in Elma, Washington, where he enjoyed staying active in the community and spending time at the Senior Center in Montesano and Elma.

Jack had many interests that brought him joy. He loved garage sales, playing pool, watching football, racing and cars, and especially cherished time spent with his family. Later in life he discovered the joy of baking, often sharing what he made with those around him.

He is survived by his sons, Per Oskar Ternsten Jr. of Norway and Jack Parshall of Hoquiam, Washington; and his daughters, Tina Otis of Rochester, Washington, Diana Blood, Debbie Simpson, and Fayanne McKee of Aberdeen, Washington. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Simpson.

Jack was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dee Knutson.

A viewing will be held at Harrison Family Mortuary on January 27th at 11:00am. A private graveside service will be held at the McCleary Cemetery.

A celebration of life will take place on January 25th at 11:00 am at the Sons of Norway Hall in Aberdeen. It will be a potluck. All are welcome.

Jack will be remembered for his larger than life presence, uncompromising sense of self, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
