Irene Jean Wickwire, 72 year old longtime resident of Elma, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 27, 1953, in Aberdeen, WA to Oliver and Rose Church, and was raised in Elma, a place she always considered home.

Irene was united in marriage to William Edward "Bill" Wickwire on April 24, 1970, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and service to others.

A devoted homemaker throughout her life, Irene also worked various side jobs including daycare, housecleaning, and meat wrapping, always willing to work hard to support her family. She was well known for her generosity, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Irene was deeply involved in her community and was especially proud of her long-standing service with the VFW Auxiliary of Elma, where she served for many years as President, as well as Secretary and Treasurer. Her dedication and leadership left a lasting impact on the organization and those she served alongside.

She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with family, and helping others whenever she could. Irene's kindness, warmth, and caring heart will be remembered by all who knew her.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William "Bill" Wickwire of Elma; her children William Wickwire of Elma, Leilani (John) Jenott of Elma, Pam Wickwire of Centralia, and Josalina Smith of Elma; and her six grandchildren.
