Jean Lorraine “Jeannie” Lewin-Hockett, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, was born on April 13, 1933, in Fort Bragg, California. She was raised along the northern California coast and later made her way to Washington, where she lived in the Seattle area before moving to the Aberdeen area in 1975.
Jeannie was a woman who loved to create, teach, and share her talents with others. She taught ceramics and porcelain doll classes for many years, helping others discover the joy of creating something with their own hands. While living in Seattle, she worked at Goodwill Industries, where she taught crafts to individuals with disabilities, helping create items that could be sold in the store.
Her faith was an important part of Jeannie’s life. She attended Harbor Assembly of God beginning in 1990, where she taught Missionettes for many years and greeted people on Sundays. Her kindness, welcoming spirit, and willingness to serve others made her a cherished part of her church family.
Jeannie especially loved to bake and create. She was known for her lemon meringue pies and enjoyed making crocheted sock monkey hats, ceramics, and porcelain dolls, many of which she shared at craft shows. Her creativity was more than a hobby, it was one of the ways she expressed her love and brought happiness to those around her.
Jeannie was married to Gene Rothmeyer and he passed away in 1989. She then married Robert Lewin Sr. and he passed in 2013. In 2015 she married Thomas Hockett, he passed away in 2022.Jeannie was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry Almer Holland and Ellen Ingalborg Carlson; and her sisters, Ruth and Edna.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Rothmeyer (Connie) of Aberdeen; Aaron Rothmeyer of Centralia; Robert Lewin Jr. of Aberdeen; Donald Lewin of Aberdeen; Mike Lewin of Ocean Shores; Melinda Minkler of Rochester; Cheryl Maladore of Aberdeen; Ruth “Kim” Aiken of Aberdeen; and Patty “George” Shanes of Tacoma, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
Jeannie leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, creativity, compassion, and love. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her willingness to teach and encourage others, and the special touches she brought into the lives of the people around her.
