John Jewett March 8, 1956 – July 19, 2026

John Leonard Jewett, of Neilton, WA, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on March 8, 1956, in Mount Vernon, WA, John was the son of Charles and Patricia Jewett. He was raised in Sedro-Woolley and spent much of his life in Western Washington, later making Neilton his home.

On September 27, 1996, John married the love of his life Marilyn Higbee-Weese, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic. He worked at Camp Grisdale from 1978 to 1986 then later dedicated nearly 30 years to Grays Harbor County, retiring at 60 years old.

John was happiest outdoors and working with his hands. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, clam digging, welding, maintaining wood stoves, working on utility trailers, tackling home and property projects, and was always enthusiastic about side-by-side adventures. He was a man who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

John is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years Marilyn Jewett of Neilton, WA; sons Keith Jewett of Ketchikan, AK, Jason Weese of Scottsdale, AZ, and Josh Weese of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Rachel Jewett-Fleck of Hoquiam, WA; sister Lori Jewett Nuzum of Ellensburg, WA; as well as 7 grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Patricia Jewett and brother Steven Jewett.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Harrison Family Mortuary. A potluck reception will immediately follow at the home of Dave and Kathy Werner, 133 Burrows Road, Hoquiam, WA. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and celebrate John’s life together.
