Jon Ray Courts (Simpson), age 49, of Copalis Beach, WA, passed away due to a tragic accident on October 31, 2024. He was born on August 10, 1975, in Aberdeen, WA to Deborah Courts and Leonard Simpson Jr. He attended Hoquiam High School and held positions at Swansons, Paneltec, Surf Crest Resort, and, most recently, Seabrook.
Jon was the most loving and welcoming person whose warmth made everyone feel like the most important person in the room. His infectious laughter and genuine spirit drew people in, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie wherever he went. Jon had a remarkable ability to connect with others, and he cherished the moments spent with family and friends, especially during gatherings filled with laughter and good times. He took immense pride in his twin boys, or to Jon, "my boys," continually working to strengthen their bond through shared experiences, while his daughter, Gemma, was truly daddy's little girl, capturing his heart with her smile, and solidifying their special relationship with every passing moment. He shared a special bond with all his nieces and nephews, and especially with his nephew, TT Guy (Christian). They shared a love for country music that strengthened their relationship and brought immense joy to both of their lives. Jon was never too busy to accept a FaceTime call from T.
Jon loved spending his weekends hitting the golf course, where he enjoyed both the challenge of the game, and the good time spent with his loved ones. He was a devoted fan of the Seattle Seahawks, passionately cheering them on during every game, and his excitement for NASCAR was equally contagious—whether he was watching races or attending events in person, Jon embraced the thrill of the sport. In addition to his love for sports, Jon found joy in the great outdoors. He loved hunting and camping, relishing the chance to connect with nature and create lasting memories around the campfire with his family. He also had a passion for horseshoes, often gathering out Wishkah with loved ones for spirited games that brought everyone together in friendly competition and laughter. Jon's adventurous spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jon is survived by his two sons, Cameron and Cody Courts; his daughter, Gemma Courts; his mother Deborah Courts; father Leonard Simpson Jr.; stepfather Jay Stutesman; his sisters Nicole Mendoza, Amy Billups, and Wendy Parshall; his brothers Dustin Courts and Mike Warness; brother-in-law Richie Mendoza; his grandson, Colter; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins who were more like siblings. He also leaves behind his long-time love, Melinda Weidman.
He joins in heaven his grandmother Mary Ellen Pellarvo; uncles Herb Courts and Bill Courts, Toby Courts, and Ken "Buck" Courts; grandfathers Leonard Simpson Sr. and Kenneth Courts, cousin Chris "Bubbas" Courts, and his daughter Eva.
A celebration of his life will be held on December 7th at 3pm at the 40&8. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Jon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jon will be remembered as a person who brought light into a room just by being in it; his warmth and kindness created an atmosphere where everyone felt cherished and valued. He reminded us that love is the brightest glow of all.
