Kenneth "Papa B" Dean Bugher of Elma, Washington passed away on Friday, February 17th, 2023. He was born on May 12th, 1948 to Albert and Norma Jean Bugher in Aberdeen, WA. Ken was born and raised on the Harbor and graduated from Wishkah High School in 1967.
Ken worked for ITT Rayonier for 24 years before changing jobs to work for Abitibi Consolidated for about 6 years. After that, he worked for G.H. Paper for 12 years and retired in 2017 from his career as a millwright at the Cosmo mill after working there for the last 7 years.
Ken married his wife, Barbara Bugher in 1995, at the family campground at Wynooche River. Ken loved being on the water, especially the ocean. His favorite activities included clam digging, bonfires, beach combing, and pulling out strangers' vehicles on the beach that got stuck with his trusty truck, "Black Beauty." He was a master carpenter that could build anything and always had several projects at any given time.
Ken is survived by his wife Barbara Bugher of Elma, WA; children Kimberly Lopez of Chehalis, WA, James Bugher of Flower Mound, TX, Candi McHaffie of Lynnwood, WA, Jennifer Combes of Elma, WA, and Staff Sergeant John Blaine of Fort Lee, VA; step-children Cecil Whipple of Montana and Brenda Whipple of Olympia, WA; sisters Linda Maynard of Tok, AK, Susie Morgan of Elma, WA, and Shelia Reed of Wishkah, WA; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Norma Jean Bugher and his favorite aunt, Betty Rowland.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 10th, 2023 at Central Park Neighborhood Church at 2 pm.
