Obituary

Rachael (Mary Mashburn) Qualey, age 79, died on May 4th in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born to Bob and Doris Mashburn in Sylva, North Carolina near the Great Smoky Mountains, her favorite place on earth. She graduated from Federal Way High, and later lived in Darrington, Everett and Aberdeen.

Rachael was an artist and poet who loved nothing more than to wander in the woods or wonder about the mysteries of the universe. Puzzles, books and quilts filled her life. She was a loyal Tarheels and Vols fan. Few loved Elvis more.

She successfully hoped her three children would share her love of music and words, and was grateful to see it continue into the generation that followed. She leaves her daughter Jenny Overstreet (Mike); daughter Jessica Pfeifer; and son John Qualey (Mary); her grandchildren Christian, Mattson, Evan, Caroline, Ruby, Gracie and Daisy; a brother Ronald Mashburn; a special niece Judy Hayes; best friend Maureen Sutton; bonus son Ron Dumont and various other friends and family.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Donations in her name requested to the Wounded Warrior Project or the USDA Plant-a-Tree Program.
