Michael Dean Brogan
May 23, 1952 – June 12, 2026

Michael Dean Brogan, 74, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Debi by his side on June 12, 2026 at their home in Satsop, WA.

Mike was born on May 23, 1952, in Carroll, Iowa, to Francis Brogan and Julia Vanderheiden. As an infant, he moved to Washington with his mother and stepfather, Lester Ayres, and was raised in Brady, Washington, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors and the close-knit community he called home.

On November 27, 1970, Mike married the love of his life, Debi (Willis) Brogan, in Brady, WA. Together they shared more than 55 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, adventure, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Mike spent many years behind the wheel as a semi-truck driver, hauling logs, gravel, freight, and beverage products from Tumwater to distributors throughout Western Washington. In 2001 he went to work as a forklift driver for Pepsi Northwest Beverages LLC in Tumwater. One of Mike’s proudest accomplishments was earning his GED from Grays Harbor College in 2002, fulfilling a goal that meant a great deal to him.Mike was an active member of the original McCleary Bear Runners Jeep Club. Together, Mike & Debi spent weekends participating in activities that included Search & Rescue, Beach clean-ups, “Jeep Runs”, play-days,obstacle courses, relay events, and drag racing. They traveled throughout Washington and Oregon for club events, with one favorite memory being when Mike drove a semi car hauler to Yakima hauling five of the groups race vehicles ready for the weekend event. When the jeep club was disbanded Mike and Debi could be found on Saturday nights attending races at the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds cheering for family and friends on the track. For the last 10+ years they found another outlet for their racing fix: enjoying their trips to Las Vegas, not to gamble but to go to NASCAR races.

In 2021 Mike retired from PNW and became a stay at home dad to Piper, a 5lb Yorkie, who was his constant companion. During the summer months,he could often be found baling hay or hauling silage on the family farm owned by his brothers-in-law, Steve and Larry Willis. The money made from doing this was his “play money” used for the upcoming hunting season.An avid outdoors-man, Mike loved hunting and fishing. Hunting season was something he eagerly anticipated every year. He hunted locally with brothers John and Louie and other family members & friends throughout the years. His sons Christopher and Kelvin learned to hunt from a very young age. Whether with a bow in his younger years or a rifle later in life, Mike treasured the time spent in the woods with family and friends as he filled the freezer with elk and deer meat. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Debi Brogan, who resides at the family home;son, Kelvin Brogan of Montesano; brothers, John Brogan of Olympia and Louie Brogan of Montesano; sister, Karen (Bob) Carlson of LaMoille, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, Steve (PJ) and Larry Willis of Brady, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Brogan and Julie Ayres; his stepfather Lester Ayres who raised him from infancy; his beloved son, Christopher Brogan, who passed away on July 14, 2024; brothers, Bud Brogan and Chuck Ayres; and sister, Susie Ayres Bath.Mike will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet determination,love of the outdoors, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

Whether he was driving truck, hunting or fishing, helping on the farm or simply spending time with those he loved, Mike lived a life full of hard work,adventure, and loyalty.

Debi would like to give a special thanks to all the family and friends who have reached out during these hard times with their support. Also, a special thank you to her nursing students who were so understanding during the last few weeks of Mike’s life. All of these kindnesses will never be forgotten.A gathering of family, friends and neighbors is planned for Sunday,September 27th from 1 to 3 pm at the Willis Farm (22 Willis Rd, Montesano).

Please bring a favorite memory to share during this time. A casual potluck is planned. Sharing a dish is welcomed but not required. Your presence is what truly matters.
