Obituary

Patricia "Patt" Lona Nichols James passed away at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma on September 2nd, 2024. She was 88 years old.
Patt was born on May 12th, 1936, in Carman, Manitoba, Canada to parents Walter Kenneth Hurt and Emillie Schmidt. She was raised in Spokane and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1953 before moving to Tacoma in 1973, and finally settling in Aberdeen in 2016. Patt was a homemaker who lovingly took care of many children throughout her years. She was also a lover of cats and the local strays all knew to go to her when they needed a meal or a warm place to curl up for the night. Patt was a talented artist, especially when it came to painting portraits. She played the guitar and loved to crochet, making blankets, hats, scarves, and doll and baby clothes, which she always gifted to other people. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casino, where she always seemed to walk away a winner. Patt was a HUGE Mariners fan and watched every game they played. She was a member of the Rainier View Christian Church in Graham and later, at the United Christian Church in Aberdeen.

Patt is survived by her son, Ray Harding of Spokane, Ron Harding of Spokane, Craig Nichols of Aberdeen, Keith Nichols of Missouri, Danny Nichols of Spanaway, and Mark Nichols of Tri Cities; daughters, Roxanne Harding of Corvallis, Oregon, Yvonne Batchelor-Kirk of Roseburg, Oregon, Shaunee Howard of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Kelli Nausely of Puyallup, Barbara Nichols-Baker of Puyallup, Connie Kingsbury of Ocean Shores, Charlin McCue of Puyallup, and Cindy Nichols of Yakima; sister, Dellas Herring of Wenatchee; and 36 grandchildren as well as 35 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Walter Hurt; sister, Anita Gillespie; son, Eddie Nichols; and daughter, Bonnie Nichols.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
