"Pete" Melvin Lee Loman

"Pete" Melvin Lee Loman, 89, of Montesano, Washington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Summit Pacific Medical Center. His passing leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Pete was born on October 10, 1936, in Montesano, Washington, to Jesse and Dorothy (White) Loman. He was raised in the community he would proudly call home throughout his life and graduated from Montesano High School with the Class of 1955.

Following high school, Pete answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served with honor and pride until his honorable discharge in 1965. After returning home, Pete dedicated 35 years of his life to working as a grocery clerk, where he became a familiar and cherished face in his community. He had a way of making people feel welcome, sharing smiles, laughter, and a little extra warmth with everyone he encountered. He retired in 1999, leaving behind countless memories and friendships built over the years.

Pete was a devoted member of Montesano Assembly of God, where he was active in the church and found fellowship through his faith. He enjoyed watching sports, attending Montesano Bulldog games, and spending time out fishing. But above all, Pete treasured his family. The moments spent together, the laughter shared, and the memories made with those he loved were the things that made life truly special to him.

Pete's life was one of quiet dedication, deep love, and a genuine connection to the people and community around him. Whether he was cheering on the Bulldogs, enjoying a day of fishing, or simply spending time with his loved ones, he found joy in life's simple blessings. His kindness, familiar smile, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The love he gave so freely will remain with them always.

Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Loman of Montesano, who shared in life and memories they built together. He also leaves behind his sons, Mike Loman (Keitha) of Olympia, Mark Loman (Angie Stokes) of Astoria, and Matt Loman (Barbara) of Hoquiam; and his daughter, Michelle Melin (Corey) of Lacey. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Sanderson of Olympia; his grandchildren, Jared Loman of Hawaii, Mitch Loman of Montesano, Mason Loman of Aberdeen, Cody Loman of Hoquiam, and Ty Melin and Jenna Melin of Lacey; and his great-grandchildren, Joel Loman and Hanalei Loman of Hawaii, and Maeve Loman of Aberdeen.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Loman, his sister, Mary Beth Dotson, and both his parents Jesse and Dorothy.

Though Pete's family will miss his presence more than words can express, they will find comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind. His love will continue to live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, carried forward in the stories they share, the traditions they cherish, and the countless ways he touched their lives.

Pete will forever be loved, forever remembered, and forever a part of the community and family he held so dear.
