Richard Lawrence Ruggles (Rick), age 69, passed away on April 19, 2026 at his home in Grayland, WA. He was born on January 6, 1957, to William and Marion Ruggles.

Rick was raised in Seattle, where he spent his early years before eventually settling in Westport in 2005. He became a familiar and well-loved presence in the community, known for his easygoing nature and friendly spirit.

Rick had a deep love for fishing and could often be found casting a line and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of the water. He also had a fondness for visiting casinos, where he especially enjoyed playing the slot machines. Earlier in his life, Rick worked for Boeing, where he was a dedicated employee.

He will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, and the simple joys he found in life—whether out on the water or sharing stories with those around him.

Rick is survived by his nephew Zach Hutchinson of Texas and his sister Cheryl Ruggles. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd, Rela, and Karen Ruggles.

Rick will be deeply missed by those who knew him and by the community that came to know and care for him.

A memorial service is being planned for Rick and will be announced once details become available. Arrangements are entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.
