Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Warren Jensen passed away at home on January 18th, 2024. Ron was born in
New York City, NY on June 26, 1946, to Alderic Joseph Edouard Dagenais and Gladys Claire
Judd. Throughout his life, Ron lived in many places in the United States and even in Italy but
moved to the Grays Harbor area in 2007.

Ron was in the United States Air Force and Navy. He was a Warehouseman in the Air Force
and then transferred to the Navy where he was a Diesel Engineman for 22 years. He yearned to
see the world. Ron cherished his experiences and opportunities to serve aboard ships that took
him to numerous ports in many countries. Ron forged lasting friendships through those
experiences. He enjoyed sharing stories about the military, especially with other veterans. In
1980 Ron was stationed at Naval Submarine Base Bangor (WA) aboard the large harbor tug,
Ottumwa (YTB–761) where he served as the chief engineer. It was then that he met his (future)
wife, Charlotte Sechrest. After a 30-day courtship they married on January 2, 1981. Ron's last
duty station was 3 years in LaMaddalena, Sardinia, Italy, aboard USS Orion (AS-18). Ron
retired from the US Navy on December 31, 1986. After his time in the Navy, he worked as a
Crane Oiler for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement there, and then worked in the
parts department and auto body shop of car dealerships in Bremerton and Gig Harbor. The
latter positions fueled his love of cars, of which he owned many throughout his life. His last job
prior to fully retiring was with the Port Orchard Police Department as a public service officer.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Alderic Dagenais and Gladys Claire (Judd) Perera,
and brothers, Thomas and Raymond Perera. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Jensen who
resides at the family home in Montesano; sister-in-law Karla Perera of Dinslaken, Germany;
cousins Linda Fairhead Clark (James) of Durango, Colorado, and Don Fairhead of Slippery
Rock, Pennsylvania. Ron considered his wife's family his own: Michael (Debbie) Sechrest,
Angela Gordon, Rachel (Jeff) Taylor, and Shalene Sweet, along with their children.

The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimers Association in Ron's
Name.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, February 1, 2024, at noon, at St. John Catholic Church. A reception will follow
