Obituary

Ronald James Miller

Ronald James Miller passed away on October 8th, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for the outdoors.

Ronald was born in Seattle, Washington on April 13th, 1948 and raised in Kenmore, Washington. He graduated from Inglemoor High School with the Class of 1966. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1966. He served in Vietnam as a Gunner’s Mate and was honorably discharged in 1970.

After returning home, Ronald began building a career that would become a lasting part of his life. He worked for Salmon Charters from 1971 to 1979 before joining Westport Shipyard in 1979. Through years of commitment and hard work, he served as a supervisor and captain at the shipyard, remaining there until his retirement in 2021. Ronald devoted many years to his work, earning a place in the maritime community through his experience, dedication, and strong work ethic.

On January 20, 2001, Ronald married Judith Miller at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Westport, Washington. Together, they shared a life and a home in Ocosta, building memories and sharing the many seasons of life side by side.

Ronald found happiness in the great outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, he treasured the time he spent enjoying nature and pursuing the activities he loved. He was also a scuba diver until health issues eventually prevented him from continuing. These passions were an important part of who he was, and they remain a meaningful part of the memories his loved ones will carry with them.

Ronald leaves behind his loving wife, Judith Miller; his son, Adam Miller of Grayland, Washington; his step daughter, Melanie Robertson of Olympia, Washington; and his six grandchildren, Jaxon Miller, Hudson Miller, Marshall Robertson, Connor Robertson, Deacon McGuire and Landon McGuire. He is also survived by his brother, Craig Miller of Tumwater, Washington; his sister, Sandi Santy of Kenmore, Washington

Ronald was preceded in death by his step son Randy Walker, his parents, James Alexander Miller and Mary Jane (Hanson) Miller, and his brother, Jerry Miller.
