Scott Elwyn Vessey, a lifelong Montesano resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 16, 2026. He was born on August 18,1959, to John and Janice (Zepp) Vessey.Scott grew up in Montesano and was proud to call the area home. He graduated from Montesano High School with the Class of 1977.
In 1979, Scott married Lois Berger. Together, they shared 47 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, hard work, friendship, and a love of the outdoors. They were blessed with two children, and later four grandchildren who brought Scott immense pride and joy.
After high school, Scott went to work at his family's construction business before becoming the owner and operator of his own logging and construction company, Scott Vessey Trucking. Scott worked alongside his wife and son and took great pride in his work and the people he worked with. He was deeply respected and loved by his employees, many of whom became more like friends and family.
Scott, along with his family business, gave his time, equipment, and heavy machinery to help build and maintain the baseball and softball fields in Montesano, giving back to the community he loved.
Scott's greatest joy was the time he spent with the people he loved. He enjoyed motor home trips to Arizona during the winter and Montana during the summer, making memories with family and friends along the way. He also loved spending time at his summer property in Tokeland, where he could relax, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his family, including many memorable trips to Maui & Disneyland.
Scott loved being on the water and looked forward to yearly fishing trips to Sekiu and Westport,as well as clam digging, crabbing, and shrimping. He was always ready to invite someone along for a boat trip and enjoyed sharing these experiences with others.
Family was at the heart of Scott's life. He loved watching his children participate in sports as they grew up and was actively involved in coaching Little League and Babe Ruth. Later, he cherished the opportunity to sit back and watch his grandchildren participate in their many sporting activities. He was always one of their biggest supporters and proudest fans. Scott was also an avid sports fan and a dedicated Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan.
Scott will be remembered for his generous spirit, his hard work, his love of the outdoors, his sense of adventure, and most of all, his devotion to his family and friends. He was the kind of person who was always willing to lend a hand, share a boat ride, tell a story, or simply spend time with the people around him. His presence touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.Scott was preceded in death by his father, John Vessey, and his brothers, Steve Vessey and Stan Vessey.
