Obituary

Shirley Ann McQuaid passed away on Monday January 30th, 2023 at Providence St Peter's Hospital. Shirley was born April 6th, 1939 to Alfred and Selma Oien in Poulsbo, Washington. Shirley was raised in Bremerton and lived there for about 30 years before moving to Grays Harbor.

Shirley graduated from Bremerton High School class of 1957 and furthered her education at Olympic College. Shirley married two years after she graduated to Reed McQuaid in Bremerton. While living in Bremerton she worked for Kress & CO. in Bremerton up until she and Reed moved to Grays Harbor. She then worked for the Montesano School District. Shirley was very active in the community being part of Our Savior Lutheran Church, PTA, Friends of Lake Sylvia, Junior Orthopedic, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved family gatherings, holidays, spending time with her grandkids, going to lunch with "the group" and was very close with her relatives in Norway.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Selma Oien; husband Reed McQuaid; brothers Ken and Gordon Oien. She is survived by her sister Janette Willams; sons Steve and Jason McQuaid; daughter Cindy River; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Shirley and her family would like all memorials made to the Montesano Fire Department. The family would like to give special thanks to Teresa Schmitz and Carol Olson.
