Stanley Eugene Durman
March 29, 1929 – May 15, 2026
At the age of 97, Stan peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on May 15, 2026. He
lived a long, meaningful life marked by unwavering faith, hard work, generosity, and deep love
for his family and community.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 29, 1929, and raised in Radford, Virginia, he was a natural-
born leader from an early age. In school, he excelled in football, participated in clubs and
activities, and developed the leadership qualities that would define his life. Those same qualities
carried into adulthood through his service in church leadership, missions work, business
ownership, and family life.
A gifted builder by trade, Stan spent much of his life in construction, known for his
craftsmanship, precision, and extraordinary attention to detail. In addition to owning and
operating a trucking company in Los Angeles, he also owned a successful general construction
business. Even after decades of hard work, he did not fully retire until the age of 80.
More than anything, he loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith guided every aspect of his life.
He faithfully served in church leadership for many years, supporting pastors, serving on church
boards, and helping build strong church communities both locally and abroad. He had a
passionate heart for missions and missionaries, building deep and meaningful relationships with
pastors and missionaries throughout his lifetime. He supported missions both financially and
through hands-on service, traveling to countries including Mexico, Liberia, and Haiti, and within
the US to help build churches, schools, and orphanages. Closer to home, he also helped build
several churches that continue to serve their communities today.
Outside of work and ministry, he found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing,
especially bird hunting with his beloved Brittany dogs and trout fishing in the streams at
Mammoth Lakes. Some of his favorite memories were made saltwater fishing and hunting in
Mexico alongside family and close friends. He especially treasured the annual kokanee fishing
trips to Lake Chelan with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons, as well as occasional fishing
adventures to Mammoth Lakes with family and his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Junior, Randy, James, Phyllis, and son,
Eric Matthew, and is survived by his siblings: Bob, Peggy, and Nancy.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his example and legacy, including his
children Janet, Jeannie, Marsha, Wanda, Stan, and Cindy; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-
grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
When people asked him the secret to his long life, he often quoted the Scripture:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." — Proverbs 3:5–6
That verse was not only something he spoke—it was how he lived. He was a kind, steadfast,
faithful servant of God whose life touched countless people through his generosity, wisdom,
humility, and enduring faith.
His life reflects a remarkable legacy of faith, leadership, service, and devotion to family. His
family rejoices in knowing that he is now home with the Lord whom he loved and served so
faithfully.
