Obituary

Susan "Sue" Rose Dixon, a lifelong resident of Hoquiam, WA. lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on June 24, 2022.
Susan was born on May 28, 1958 and attended grade school-high school in the Hoquiam School District. A sports lover to the end, Sue was involved in softball, volleyball and basketball. Graduating in 1977, she was also a member of many clubs, including the high school spirit club. Susan continued her education at Grays Harbor College, Central Washington University, and received her teaching degree at St. Martin's University.
After working several years for Thousand Trails, Sue found her home working for the Hoquiam School District as a Head Custodian. Having a knack for helping kids, she is remembered fondly by students from Washington Elementary and Hoquiam High School. Susan also helped coach and referee girls' volleyball and softball.
Hobbies Sue enjoyed with her many friends include playing adult league softball with the Misfits and the Hoquiam Merchants, both of which earned many trophies and titles. She also enjoyed clam digging, camping and riding off road vehicles.
Susan is survived by her partner Diane Golob of Hoquiam, WA, her sisters, Sharon Morris of Bonney Lake, WA. and Sandra McDonald of Hoquiam, WA. Sue will also be greatly missed by her nieces Shannon Garner and her husband John, Lynn Olson and her husband Zeb, her great niece and nephew Gracie Jo and Mark "Buddy" Olson. She will also be missed by Babe, Eric, Kayla and Tauni Hillard as well as Dawn Hillard, Hannah and Logan Avery.
Preceding her in death are her parents Martin "Babe" and Mary Dixon and her niece Cori Morris.
A memorial service will be held at Hoquiam High School Gymnasium on July 31, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. Immediately following will be a reception at the Hoquiam Elks, 624 K St. Hoquiam.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Grays Harbor Community Foundation. The Susan Dixon Scholarship Fund has been created and will be used to help Hoquiam High School female athletes further their education.
